Homework for Friday April 13

The Aquarium was awesome. I'm so sorry that some of you missed the trip.
Homework is to do a write up on one creature that you saw at the Aquarium. If you didn't go, I still would like you to go on the website www.scaquarium.org and pick out a creature to write a one page, single space report. You may use one or two small pictures in your report, but don't have a picture that takes up half the page. Also include the Class or Phylum, Characteristic, Origin (where is it from), description of nature (habit. etc.) and why your chose this creature. This will be due on Friday. I will ask you to stand up in class and tell us about your new friend.
See you then,
N

Coral Reef Project

Hey Kids,
Read your Mod. #11 on Coral Reef for Tuesday. We will have discussion time in class.
Below you will find some Coral Reefs in the world that you might want to do your oral presentation on. This presentation will be very much like the last one you had to do.

  1. Your presentation must between 8-12 minutes.
  2. Have nice visuals like - poster, power point, books, song, dance etc.
  3. Enjoy your project. Coral reef are one of the most beautiful things God's created for our world.
  4. Remember, this will count as a test grade for Mod. #11. It could really help you or really hurt you.
I will have a Rubric for you on Tuesday. This will help you have guidelines on the grading.
Have fun researching these beautiful Coral reefs. If you find another one you would like to do other then one I have listed, that is find. Just make sure that you have enough information to do a really good presentation!!!!
  • The Great Barrier Reef
  • Belize Barrier
  • New Caledonia Barrier
  • Andros, Bahamas
  • Red Sea Coral Reef
  • Florida Keys
  • Jamaican Reef
  • Reefs on the Windward Southeast Hawaii
  • Mombasa National Marine Park
  • Surin Island
  • Seychelles

Things to research and talk about.
  • Almost every reef has suffer. Find out what has happened to your reef. Dredging, sewage disposal, hurricanes, tourism, over fished....?
  • What are all the different types of species that live on your reef?
  • Describe your reefs ecosystem?
  • If there is really Global warming, is it effecting your coral reef? If not Global warming, what is?
  • Is your reef thriving with life or dying off?
